When it comes to marble and natural stone polishing there is alot of confusion about which process is best for the application at hand. Some people will say that the HTC Twister polishing system or Cyclone diamond polishing pads are a complete system for polishing natural stone. We supply and recommend the Twister system to many organisations around Australia however most professionals in the marble and stone polishing industry do not use the HTC Twister polishing system for restoration and polishing services and in this blog I will explain why. Twister or Cyclone are great systems when used for what they were originally designed for… maintenance, in fact we sell heaps of the pads and cleaner conditioner, however many people selling the product have probably over promised on it’s benefits which has caused some to speak harshly and negatively about the Twister and Cyclone diamond pad systems. There has been a handful of applications where the Twister and Cyclone have performed really well and solved some problems. (more…)

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010
Good Floor Preparation Is The Key
Before re-sealing your floor you must…
1. completely strip and remove all existing sealer
2. remove all residue
3. neutralise floor
4. ensure floor is perfectly clean and dust free
5. be certain the floor is bone dry (even in the grout lines)
Preparing the floor for sealing is just as important as preparing a wall for painting, perhaps even more important—the more time taken to have a perfectly clean, dust free floor is worth the time and effort for the perfect result you will get. (more…)

4 Keys To Choosing The Right Floor Scrubber For Hard Surface Professionals.
Thursday, May 6th, 2010There are many effective forms of agitation available to the hard surface and tile cleaning professional. Agitation is vital in the hard surface cleaning process. The important thing is to know how to select the right form of agitation for the surface and soil type.
There are two main types of floor scrubbers; rotary and cylindrical, both are available with either manual pick up or automatic vacuum pick up. As a Hard Surface Professional you must learn how to use the rotary floor scrubber. With rotary scrubbers there are four very important points you need to have going right for it to be successful.
1. Speed
Slow speed 150-200RPM is for scrubbing. High Speed 400 – 3000RPM is for buffing. For general Hard Surface Professional duties, a slow speed floor scrubber is recommended.

Which Floor Slip Test Is Appropriate For My Floor? And Why The ‘R’ Rating Slip Test Does Not Apply To Most Floor Areas?
Friday, March 26th, 2010
Amongst slip testing professionals it is considered good practice to choose a slip test method that best simulates the likely conditions of the surface (e.g. contaminant and footwear). In the case of a foyer the likely contaminant is water (not motor oil) and the likely footwear is smooth soled shoes (not profiled safety boots). Therefore we can conclude that the appropriate method of testing is a wet pendulum and/or dry friction test.
Types of Slip Testing
1. Dry Floor Friction Test (F, G)
2. Wet Pendulum Test (Z: <25 Lowest Rating, Y: 25-34, X: 35-44, W: 45-54, V: >54 Highest Rating)
3. Wet/Barefoot Ramp Test (A, B, C)
4. Oil-Wet Ramp Test: R-Test (R9: Lowest Rating, R10, R11, R12, R13: Highest Rating)
